We offer a two seat and and (4) four seat VW buggies and WE DELIVER the fun to you! Whether it's your condo in Waikoloa, hotel in Kona, cruise ship port in Kona or on the street, we deliver and pick up at your specified time and location.Â For your convenience, beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and soft cooler provided by request atÂ no additional charge.Â We have also equipped them with a USB port to charge your phones. YELLOW TANG: (2 seat buggy) Standard Transmission. Extra storage behind seats for beach gear and luggage.

BLUE MAKO: (4 seat buggy) Standard Transmission. Bench seat in back.

RED TIKI: (4 seat buggy) Standard Transmission. Full size seats with open storage area behind rear seats.

GREEN HONU: (4 seat buggy AUTOMATIC) Fully Automatic Transmission. Same as TIKI except automatic.

Hawaii Excise Tax: 4.712%
Hawaii Vehicle Rental Surcharge: $5.00 per vehicle per day.

EXCLUSIONS

Rental Collision Protection Insurance: $18 per day. Covers up to $20,000 damage to vehicle. $250 deductible. REQUIRED FOR ALL FOREIGN DRIVERS.

Yellow "Tang", Blue "Mako" and Red "Tiki" are standard/stick-shift transmissions. Green "Honu" is the only fully automatic transmission.
What is required in order to rent a buggy?
1. Be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license.
2. Personal automobile insurance. Foreign drivers must provide Supplemental Liability Insurance and purchase Rental Collision Insurance for $18 per day.
3. Be present at the time of the rental to complete contract.
4. All drivers must be registered on the rental contract.
5. One registered driver will also need to Authorize Use of a credit card for purchase of optional insurance policy deductible, if accident occurs and /or any other incidentals.
6. We require at least 48 hours notice for a full refund.
Can the Buggy be taken off road?
No, our buggies are only allowed on paved roadways and parking lots. Our buggies are equipped with GPS tracking devices, so we will be notified as soon as the buggy enters onto a dirt or lava road. There is a $500.00 charge for attempting "off road" excursions.
How Many People Can Fit in a Buggy?
We offer 2 and 4 seater options for your convenience.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
1. Cancellation within 24 hours of your reservation are non-refundable.
2. Due to inclement weather, we would make a decision for the refund the day of the rental. Please keep in mind that showers and storms will blow in and blow out quickly.

The owners, Aaron and Debi, have found a niche. Their dune buggy rental is such a great addition to the must do activities in Kona. It is so much fun and better than driving a regular convertible! Reservation is hassle free. They even deliver the buggy to your hotel with chairs, umbrella, and cooler to boot! We had to make some changes to our reservations because we overbooked ourselves. Aaron was so gracious to accommodate our request. The day before we got the buggy, we asked Aaron if they had boogie boards we could rent or borrow. They brought us two boogie boards free of charge What great customer service! We only reserved the buggy for 4 hours but ended up extending it for a couple more with no problems whatsoever. We really should have reserved it for 8 hours! We plan on reserving it for a couple of days next time. This is really a must do if you're in the area, and you won't find better operators. Just the best people to work with.

Best way ever to see the island on your own. Can’t remember how many times we heard “that’s so cool” and “ you look like you’re having so much fun”. Aaron. Is a wealth of knowledge freely giving ideas. We had the two seat “Tang” for two days.

We had an absolute blast with Big Island Buggy. We rented all 4 and took our own island tour. The vehicles were so much fun, and we couldn't have had a better time if we tried. Aaron and Debbie were a joy to work with, the vehicles were in great condition, and we would do it again if the occasion ever arises again. Mahalo.

This place was fantastic. It is very difficult to rent cars in Hawaii right now, and these guys provided an excellent way for us to explore the island without having to take a tour or try to find a car. They pick up and drop off at your hotel for free, and provide an excellent map and guide to fun things to do and how to get there on roads that are safe for travel by buggy. If you scan the QR code on the dashboard, it takes you to an interactive Google map that they have created that will guide you directly to a wide variety of attractions and activities. This was one of the best experiences we had on the island.

Had SO MUCH FUN in our buggy rental! Owners were super nice and accommodating, drop off and pick up was a breeze! It was beautiful cruising around Kona for the morning and seeing the City of Refuge, the Painted Church, a coffee plantation - with all the fun of a four wheeler but with the street convenience of a car!! Would definitely recommend; great, unique way to see the sights and enjoy the beauty of the big island.

My wife and I just got back from 3 weeks in beautiful Hawaii! We rented a dune buggy from Aaron at Big Island Buggy. It was a last minute decision to rent a buggy and Aaron was very accommodating and delivered Tang, the yellow buggy within 20mins. We had a great time driving around in it. Thank you Aaron for adding to the many great experiences we had while in Hawaii.

SO MUCH FUN!!! If you’re still thinking about it, don’t just booked it!! We rented Tiki & Tang and rented them for 4 hours which was perfect for a ride down to 2 Step to snorkel but we had so much fun that we decided to keep Tiki overnight and ended up riding the Kona coast with the sunset in the background😍 And Aaron & Debi we’re sooo nice and helpful !! They gave us places to see and eat and we’re accommodating, we would definitely recommend and when we go back to the big island 🏝 it’s a must for us!!
